Who are you?

Blog Profile PictureWho are you?

Ever want to know who you are?  Ever want to know where you fit in, even wonder where you belong?

If you are a believer in our Savior, the Scriptures have the answer to that question for you.  The answer might surprise you but it is clearly in the Scriptures and can, without a doubt, completely answer that question you may have been wondering about.

The answer awaits, in Romans 11:16b-26.

Romans 11:16b-26

16b…if the root is set-apart, the branches are too.  17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree, 18 do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you. 19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” 20 Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear; 21 for if YHWH did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you, either. 22 Behold then the kindness and severity of YHWH; to those who fell, severity, but to you, YHWH’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. 23 And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for YHWH is able to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these who are the natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree?

25 For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery so that you will not be wise in your own estimation that a partial hardening has happened to Yisrael until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; 26 and so all Yisrael will be saved; just as it is written,

                                              “Out of Tsiyon will come the Redeemer;

                                          He will turn away ungodliness from Ya‘akov.”

Let’s take a look at the players in these verses.  It always helps to know who is on the playing field.

Paul – A Yisraelite trying to reach and teach the lost Unbelievers.

The Cultivated Olive Tree – Yisrael, the Father’s set-apart nation.

Branches broken off the Cultivated Olive Tree – Unbelieving Yisraelites

The Wild Olive Tree – The Unbelieving, Gentile, Pagan Nations

Branches Grafted into the Cultivated Olive Tree – Believers from the

                                                                                       Gentile, Pagan Nations

Natural Branches grafted back into the Cultivated Olive Tree –

                                                   Yisraelites not remaining in their unbelief

Now let’s take a look at Paul’s teaching here.  He is speaking to Gentile Believers (non-Yisraelites) in Rome.  He states in verse 17 that some of the branches of the cultivated for olive tree (Yisrael) had been broken off (the unbelieving Yisraelites) and these Gentile Believers, being of the wild olive tree (the Pagan Nations), were now grafted into the cultivated olive tree (Yisrael) among the Yisraelites that were believers. This allowed the grafted in Gentile Believers to partake of the rich roots of the tree (Yisrael) which now supported these wild olive branches (the Gentile Believers).  This is so exciting for us!

Paul goes on to speak about the grafting back in of the unbelieving Yisraelites if they do not continue in their unbelief.  This is, yet again, more exciting news!  The Scriptures are full of exciting news for those who believe!

This next part is extremely important to understand exactly what the preceding verses are actually telling us as believers today.  Let’s look at this part again.

     25 For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery so that you will not be wise in your own estimation that a partial hardening has happened to Yisrael until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; 26 and so all Yisrael will be saved; just as it is written,

                                              “Out of Tsiyon will come the Redeemer;

                                         He will turn away ungodliness from Ya‘akov.”

Paul starts this part by making sure that we are informed about the mystery of which he speaks.  It would not be good for us to remain uninformed because then we will draw our own conclusions as to what this all means.  A mystery in Scripture is something that needs Divine Revelation in order for the exact meaning to be completely understood.  Paul can tell us the Mystery but we, individually, still need to have the exact meaning revealed to us by the Spirit.

Here is the mystery – The Father has allowed a partial hardening of the hearts of the Yisraelites against the Father causing unbelief in their hearts, so the Gentiles have opportunity to believe and enter the Kingdom.  When those Gentiles, who will believe, have entered into the covenant with the Father through the Blood of the Son,

Then…

All Yisrael will be saved! These two parts, the Natural Branches of Yisrael and the Wild Branches that have been Grafted in, come together to make Yisrael whole and complete. It takes both these Natural and Wild branches together to make ALL of Yisrael. And this is how all of Yisrael will be saved.

Look at verse 26.

                    26 and so all Yisrael will be saved; just as it is written,

                                              “Out of Tsiyon will come the Redeemer;

                                          He will turn away ungodliness from Ya‘akov.”

Where it says, “and so all”, the Greek word here for “so” is Strong’s #G3779 οὕτως houtós.  It means “in this manner”, or “in this way”.  So these verses are saying that “in this manner”, by having the Natural Yisraelite believers and the grafted in Gentile believers all believing in the Redeemer, then ALL YISRAEL WILL BE SAVED!

So if you are a believer in the Redeemer, then by reading these verses you should now know who you are, where you fit in and where you belong.  You are a part of the 12 Tribes of Yisrael! This is where you will find your identity. To be grafted in is essentially like an adoption, you have new ancestors, a new heritage, and new family members.

  The Yisrael being spoken of is not a modern day, political nation in the middle east. There is no need to move to a foreign country to be a part of this nation.  This Yisrael is the Father’s set-apart people, the Natural Yisraelite believers and the Grafted in Yisraelite believers all together.

                  Are you my brother?

With all that said…………….We, as Yisraelites, are looking for our brothers and sisters.  If after reading this, you know that you, too, are a part of the Olive Tree, we would love a message from you so that we can rejoice in finding another one of our relatives.

We are hoping to hear from you!
